Power Up Wellbeing!

The Power up wellbeing! (PUW!) research project focuses on optimizing the school well-being of cognitively strong students in Flemish education. We take a different approach from the dominant focus on academic acceleration for cognitively strong students, instead prioritizing mental well-being as the foundation for true excellence.

The main objective

In collaboration with seven different schools; including a primary school, five secondary schools, and a special education school (OV4 type 9), we are developing tailored support programs for cognitively strong students, aligned with each school’s specific vision.

Using advanced sensors and a dedicated app, we aim to gain deeper insights into students’ individual well-being at school and translate these findings into personalized guidance pathways. In this way, we strive to give every child the opportunity to grow and excel in education in their own unique way.

The technology

The PUW! methodology builds on an advanced, objective school well-being measurement method that was developed during a previous PWO sprint project. The method integrates various self-reporting techniques through a smartphone application with objective physiological data analysis using wearable sensors and AI.
